Intel's First Smartphone Goes on Sale in Europe June 6, Courtesy of Orange UK

The Intel-based San Diego smartphone, previously known as Santa Clara, will go on sale in the U.K. on June 6 via Orange, the operator said on Thursday.
Today, ARM-based processors dominate among smartphones and tablets, but Intel is devoting a lot of resources to carving out a chunk of this growing market.
The San Diego is powered by Intel's Atom Z2460 processor at 1.6 GHz. The phone also has a 4.03-inch screen with a 1024-by-600 pixel resolution and an 8-megapixel camera that will be able to take 10 images in one second, and shoot video at 1080p.
More competition in the smartphone processor space is good for all involved, said Yves Maitre, vice president for Devices at Orange Group, when the phone was introduced at Mobile World Congress in February.
Orange is a big supporter of HD Voice, which has been implemented on the San Diego.
For now the phone runs Android 2.3, but an upgrade to Android 4.0 is on the way.
Breaking into the smartphone market isn't going to be easy for Intel, according to Malik Saadi, principal analyst at Informa Telecoms & Media.

Nokia's Batman Lumia 900 Priced at £600, Launching June 1

Earlier this week we got all excited about Nokia's special edition Lumia 900 that's set to come out in time for the release of the Dark Knight Rises. The phone features an all black, matte finish with a Batman logo etched into the back. However, very little else was known about the device, such as when it might come out, how much it would cost, and how people could go about procuring one.
Well, today some of those questions were answered as UK retailer Phones 4u opened up pre-orders for the phone online. First of all, we now know that in addition to the Batman logo etched into the Lumia 900's polycarbonate case, the phone will also come with a limited edition black and grey skin, exclusive character wallpapers, and ringtones, as well as special limited edition packaging. You'll also get free tickets to see the movie. Second, Phones 4u has revealed that this device is a Phones 4u exclusive, which means if you want one, you're not going to get it any place else other than Phones 4u.

Setting Up a Local Code Igniter Dev Environment (OSX)

I recently downloaded the latest version of CI and began setting it up – when I realized the setup may be helpful to describe to newcomers to the PHP framework.

While this tutorial is geared towards Mac users, most of the steps should be similar for Windows users.

Step 1
DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL MAMP

MAMP is the OSX version of the one-click Apache-MySQL-PHP install. If you’re on a PC, you want to try out XAMPP instead (XAMPP also comes in an OSX flavor, but I haven’t personally tried it). In any case, you’ll want to download one of these two programs and follow the instructions for installation.
Step 2
DOWNLOAD CODE IGNITER
